This bureau is
responsible for the establishment of
training standards, performance measures and
certification programs statewide to develop
competent, safe and effective fire service
personnel.

Training Bureau Goals
To establish
the Fire Service in the State of Nevada as a
professional career/volunteer service.
To improve the
performance and coordination of all
certification efforts through the
development of minimum performance
requirements.
To develop
competent, safe, and effective Fire Service
personnel by establishing minimum
certification standards.
To establish
and maintain valid procedures that measure
specific levels of skills, abilities and
knowledge consistent with standards approved
and adopted by the Nevada Fire Service
Standards and Training Committee.
To establish
and implement a Voluntary Certification
Program that will ensure complete
impartiality, confidentiality and be
designed in such a manner that will
safeguard against misuse and abuse.
To establish
statewide uniform testing procedures for a
consistent means of evaluation.

The State Fire
Marshal's Division maintains a videotape
library covering topics applicable to fire
prevention and protection. These
tapes are available to individuals and
agencies. Return postage is the only
expense to borrowers. Request your
videotape in advance of the date it is
needed to make sure it's available.
Also, we ask that you limit the time you
borrow the tape to two weeks. Notify
us at once of any damage or problems that
occur with the tape. To request a
tape, contact our office between 8:00 a.m.
and 5:00 p.m. weekdays via phone or
e-mail.
