Fire Investigations /
Enforcement Bureau |
This Bureau is responsible for
the investigation and enforcement of all statutory mandates placed upon the
State Fire Marshal. The Investigations/Enforcement bureau has authority to conduct
investigations under Nevada Revised Statute 477.030 and Nevada
Administrative Code 477 in all counties with a population under 100,000 and
responds to requests from any Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for
investigations. The bureau is divided into 3 geographical locations in The
Northwest, Northeast and South.
State Fire
Marshal Investigators are sworn Category I certified (Nevada POST) peace
officers equipped to respond to any request for investigation. All
investigators are nationally certified fire investigators or training to
meet the requirements for national certification. Investigators have access
to the most high tech laboratories for forensic analysis as well as the
ability to bring other experts in the field of arson investigations to bear
in the pursuit of arsonists across the state.
This bureau
works closely with insurance company investigators to bring charges against
those who file false claims in structure and/or vehicle fires.
